YG Hits Back at Rumors Surrounding Drakeo The Ruler’s K*lling!

Lyndon Abioye |

YG’s latest album is addressing long-running rumors regarding the late rapper Drakeo The Ruler’s death.

On his new single “WE KNOW THE TRUTH,” YG addresses rumors surrounding Drakeo’s fatal stabbing backstage at the Once Upon A Time In LA festival in 2021. Drakeo, born Darrell Caldwell, died after the attack.

YG has repeatedly denied involvement in Drakeo’s death, and no legal findings have connected him to the stabbing. The two rappers had traded public shots before the festival, and in the song, YG hits back at the claims with the words “Stop lying.” Elsewhere in the track, he describes arriving to perform and later hearing that someone had been stabbed.

Snoop Dogg’s team has also been unfortunately linked to the rapper’s death.

His team was sued by Drakeo’s estate as a part of a wrongful death lawsuit. According to Snoop, he was at the festival only as a performer, and that the role was the “extent of his involvement.”

The lawsuit has accused event organizers and related parties of failing to provide proper security, calling the measures “woefully inadequate.” Live Nation, USC, Los Angeles FC, Bobby Dee Presents, and others were among the defendants named in the case, but USC, LAFC, and Bobby Dee Presents were dismissed earlier this year.
