Yella Beezy’s murder trial was supposed to get underway this week. Instead, the Dallas rapper faces another delay.
Jury selection in Beezy’s capital murder case was set to begin Monday before Judge Chika Anyiam granted a defense request to postpone the proceedings.
Beezy, whose legal name is Markies Conway, is accused of hiring Kewon White to kill rapper MO3 in 2020. Conway has pleaded “not guilty” to the charge and has denied involvement in MO3’s death.
His attorneys sought the delay because several expert witnesses could not appear during the next two weeks. The prosecution agreed to the continuance.

The defense is also waiting for a transcript from White’s trial, which ended earlier this month with a capital murder conviction and life sentence. Court officials expect the transcript to take about 30 days to complete. Beezy’s team then wants roughly two additional weeks to review it.
For now, there is no new date for Beezy’s trial.
MO3, whose real name was Melvin Noble, was killed after being ambushed on Interstate 35 in Dallas in 2020. Prosecutors have alleged the shooting grew out of a long-running feud and that Beezy hired White to carry it out.
Attorneys on both sides are also trying to coordinate schedules for federal witnesses expected to testify.
Devin Brown, a third defendant in the case, is also charged with capital murder.
