Rapper Yak Gotti, one of Young Thug’s codefendants, rejected a plea deal the same day Thugger accepted a plea deal and was released from custody.
Yak’s attorney, Douglas Weinstein, said that his client “fully intends to take this to the jury and get our not guilty verdicts and go home.”
Gotti, real name is Deamonte Kendrick, is signed to Young Thug’s YSL label and is facing 12 counts, including charges related to racketeering, murder, guns, drugs, and street gang participation.
#YakGotti trying to enter a non-negotiated plea. Whitaker lets him know his case is different than #YoungThug's. He can't get a sweet deal. A lot of what he's facing is outside of the court's jurisdiction. #YSLTrial pic.twitter.com/wJS8xiy4X6

Yesterday, Young Thug pleaded guilty to several charges, including gang involvement and weapons and drug offenses, without a plea bargain after negotiations failed.
The judge sentenced him to a 40-year sentence, with the first five years being commuted to time served, followed by 15 years of probation.
The rapper must avoid the Atlanta area for a decade but must make anti-violence presentations locally four times a year, and he must do 100 hours of annual community service. He cannot be around any known gang members and must submit to random drug testing. Thugger cannot promote any gang activities in his music but he is allowed to travel for work.
Any violations could mean 20 years in prison for the star.
