While most of the girls were serving high-art masterpieces, two of our favorite icons decided to show up looking like a mess. Cardi B usually shuts down the Met, but last night she arrived looking like a science experiment gone wrong. She stepped out in a massive, black lace “puff” gown that was covered in these strange, lumpy textures. Honey, it looked like the dress had some type of disturbing-looking growths sprouting out of it!
The snark on X (Twitter) was brutal, with many pointing out that the dress was an “interesting” choice given Cardi’s history. Critics were quick to bring up her previous admissions regarding her botched BBL procedures, noting that she already has some pretty disturbing growths and lumps on her actual body. Seeing her wear a dress that mimics that same “lumpy” aesthetic? It’s giving Hospital Chic instead of Costume Art. Cardi, girl, who let you leave the house in this “growth” gown?!
Rihanna: The “Meh” Of The Century
Then we have the Queen of the Met herself… or at least, she used to be. Rihanna is arguably one of the most beautiful women in the world, but last night she looked completely “meh.” After making us wait hours for her arrival, she stepped out in a brown sculptural gown that was—to put it nicely—a total snooze.
Where was the drama? Where was the “wow” factor? It was a complete waste of an opportunity. When you’re the baddest gal in the game, you can’t show up to the biggest fashion night of the year looking like a beige thumb. Fans were expecting a masterpiece, but Rih gave us something that looked like it was left on the cutting room floor. We love you, Rih, but this look was a “Hard Pass.”
The Verdict
While Beyoncé and Ciara were eating the girls up, Cardi and Rihanna were stuck in the “What Happened?” category. Between the lumpy growths and the underwhelming brown sack, these two definitely need to fire their stylists before the after-parties!
