A woman who suffered a miscarriage after the Astroworld Festival has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Travis Scott and Live Nation.
According to Rolling Stone, Shanazia Williamson claims her unborn child died as a result of the crowd surge during Scott’s performance.
“While in attendance at the festival, Shanazia was trampled and crushed resulting in horrific injuries and ultimately the death of her and Jarawd’s unborn child,” the filed documents read. “In addition, Shanazia sustained injuries to her shoulder, back, leg, chest, stomach and other parts of her body.”
Williamson and her husband Jarawd Owens are suing Scott, Live Nation and ScoreMore, security company Valle Services SMG, ASM Global, and the Harris County Sports and Convention corporation.
Before this filing, the youngest death reported was 9-year-old Ezra Blount.
In March, Scott launched Project HEAL to honor those who died at the music festival.
“Over the past few months I’ve been taking the time and space to grieve, reflect and do my part to heal my community,” Scott said at the time. “Most importantly, I want to use my resources and platform moving forward towards actionable change. This will be a lifelong journey for me and my family.”
