During Kanye West’s episode on Drink Champs, Ye said he “used” Talib Kweli on The College Dropout.

Will.i.am was upset by Ye’s comments.

“The only times I talk about Ye, I feel conflicted, like a lot of people,” he said. “He’s different than the person he broadcasts.”

The Black Eyed Peas rapper continued, “The broadcasting of Kanye is different than the actual Kanye that you sit and talk to—the sensitive one. When these two things exist in the world, the broadcast hurts… You’re like, ‘Yo, that’s my dude.’ One of the things that hurt me on Drink Champs was when he said, ‘I used them.’ That really hurt. I’m like, ‘What?'”

Kweli responded to the remarks at the time.

“Kanye knows very well that the things I’ve said about him in public, I’ve also said to him in private,” Kweli said. “I still consider him a good friend and I love him but because he’s my good friend, I told him privately,” he continued, referring to Ye’s overall support for the far-right including Candace Owens. “I think it’s dangerous. I think you’re putting targets on our backs and I still believe that.”
