Wil Wheaton Blasts Dwayne Johnson as “Coward” Over Politics Silence!

Lyndon Abioye |

Wil Wheaton is calling out Dwayne Johnson after the actor said he plans to keep his politics private.

The Stand By Me star responded Monday on Threads to a post by George Takei about Johnson’s recent Esquire interview, where the Jumanji actor explained why he does not want political views to pull focus from his movies.

“So disappointing to find out he is such a coward,” Wheaton wrote.

Wheaton, who has been outspoken about President Trump and campaigned for Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, reacted after Johnson told Esquire that his priority is “creating.”

“What I have learned through experience,” Johnson said, “is that I need to keep — need, not want — the main thing the main thing.”

Johnson clarified that he means “art” and “storytelling.” He added, “I’ve learned I’m going to keep my politics to myself.”

Johnson said politics is everywhere and “forever,” adding, “I don’t like it. I hate it at times. I hate the slinging. I hate all the bulls–t that comes with it.”

The Rock previously endorsed Joe Biden in 2020, but said in 2024 that he regretted it because of the division it caused.
