Bravo has pulled the plug on the premiere episode of Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, featuring Wendy Osefo, following her arrest for fraud charges.
Wendy and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were indicted on October 9 in Carroll County, Maryland, on multiple charges of fraud. The couple was released on a $50,000 bond (each).
Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition was scheduled to air on October 14, but the episode featuring Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Angie Katsanevas will now air the following week, on October 21.
Law enforcement alleges that Wendy and Eddie staged a burglary so that they could file three insurance claims worth in excess of $450,000. Many of the items claimed were reportedly returned to the retailers, and they were reimbursed months before the incident. It is also claimed that one of the items, an anniversary ring reported as stolen in the burglary, was worn by Wendy on social media after the alleged crime.
Following their shock arrest, the Osefos issued a public statement.
“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits. They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
Investigators revealed that the Osefos were “burdened by substantial debt.”
