Dancehall star Vybz Kartel announced that he is focusing on getting his health back since his release from prison.
Kartel, who has put on a lot of weight, is noticeably more frail since entering prison and after videos of him post-release went viral, fans urged him to take his health seriously.
“Healthwise, you know I’m working on my health right now, but the feeling of just being free is just an amazing feeling,” he said to a Fox 5 News anchor. “I could be better, but I’m super upbeat.”
Kartel let her know that he’s purchased a treadmill and a bike.
Kartel, real name Adidja Azim Palmer, was arrested in 2011 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Williams was ordered to visit Kartel at his home in Kingston after failing to return two firearms to him. Williams’ home was burned down just two days later and Williams was never seen again.
Lamar Chow, who was also summoned to the home, was beaten but survived the attack and testified against Kartel. His codefendants, co-accused Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John were convicted and jailed for life.
Last week, a judge ruled that Kartel can not be retried over his case, which was overturned in March.
