Vic Mensa, who famously called DJ Akademiks a “bitch” to his face over his Chiraq coverage, says he’s over it.
The rapper ended the beef on Ak’s Off The Record podcast.
“In all honesty, I was coming from a place of pain man,” Vic told Ak. “Tray 57, who I knew as Nigel that I grew up with, he went in the direction that he did and he became a drill artist. He was always gangbanging and when he passed away, I learned about it on your platform the next day. You know, it was peppered with certain judgements and insults.”
Ak claimed he was trying to give a different perspective on all of the violence but Mensa challenged him on his take.
During an appearance on Everyday Struggle years back, Mensa told Ak:
“There was nothing constructive about it. And I’m a tell you the truth: I really think you a bitch. Because there’s a video that you put up that about a person named Tray 57, making all these jokes like, ‘Here’s another Chiraq savage. Like this guy’s stupid. He messed with the Grim Reaper.’ Like n-gga, this is not a video game.”
He added: “That’s a n-gga I grew up with that I’ve known since I was five years old. And to see you come on the internet and with the corny ass little voice and make jokes about it, I was waiting to see you. And it’s a couple of people waiting to see you. I heard you say you didn’t wanna come to Chicago when I sat down ’cause you clearly know. You really couldn’t even stand outside.”
