Katie Maloney is weighing in on Amanda Batula and West Wilson’s romance, and she is not impressed by the way the pair chose to announce it.
The Summer House stars recently confirmed their relationship in a joint statement after weeks of rumors. In the message, Amanda and West said they needed “a little space” and asked for “respect” as they moved forward together. Amanda was one of costar Ciara Miller’s closest friends, who previously dated West and is still struggling with their breakup. West was also a close friend of Amanda estranged husband, Kyle Cooke, who also stars in the show.
During the latest episode of the Disrespectfully podcast, Katie and co-host Dayna Kathan criticized the statement.
“The joint statement was a bit word-salad-y,” Katie said.
Dayna said she had heard the pair used a publicist to help write it.
“I had it on good authority that they did have a PR person helping them with their statement,” Dayna said. “That was one of the worst.”

Dayna also questioned why Amanda and West expected privacy while appearing on a reality series.
“You can’t do something salacious and then say respect our privacy,” she said.
Katie said the statement missed the mark. “It was very devoid of empathy and reality,” she said.
The criticism comes after the news was revealed that their relationship grew from a friendship that had developed over several years. Their camp recently released a statement via TMZ, saying that their relationship is going strong and that they are ignoring the backlash, despite Amanda’s estranged husband saying she was struggling with the negativity.
