Uncle Luke is weighing in after recent comments and political activity by Nick Cannon and Chilli sparked online backlash.
Uncle Luke, real name Luther Campbell, shared his thoughts in an Instagram message over the weekend, saying their support of President Donald Trump and MAGA politics “hits different.” While Campbell said both stars have the right to their opinions, he made clear he does not agree with them.
“It hits different when people who came from our community choose to line up with people who don’t have our best interests at heart,” Campbell wrote. He added that he believes public figures should be talking more about “reparations,” “economic power” and “what we need in our neighborhoods.”
Campbell’s comments come as he launches a run for Florida’s 20th Congressional District.
Over the weekend, documents surfaced online showing that TLC star Chilli donated to Republican groups, including WinRed and the Trump National Committee, in 2024. She also faced backlash after reposting a false claim about former First Lady Michelle Obama.

To Nick Cannon and Chilli — I say this with love, but also with truth.
What y’all are saying right now… in my opinion… is dead wrong.
Now let me be clear — I’m the one who fought all the way to the Supreme Court for free speech. So I respect… pic.twitter.com/f9EUlsOqEz
Chilli later addressed the controversy.
“I WANT TO BE CLEAR: I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people. I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans,” she wrote via Instagram.
“Two things I care deeply about as my dad is a veteran and everyone knows I love children. I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this,” she added. She also recorded a via denying reports she disrespected the Obamas.

Cannon also faced backlash after praising Trump during an episode of his web series.
“I f–k with Trump,” Cannon said. “He’s cleaning house. He’s doing what he said he was gonna do.” Uncle Luke believes those comments discount the concerns of many Black voters and “send the wrong message.”
