Gervonta Davis is being actively sought by Miami police with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service following an alleged domestic violence incident.
Authorities issued a warrant after Davis reportedly failed to appear in connection with an October incident at a Miami nightclub involving his former girlfriend, Courtney Rossell. In a civil lawsuit, Rossell alleges Davis grabbed her by the head and throat, dragged her through the venue, and later assaulted her in a parking lot. She claims security footage backs up her account. The two had ended their relationship weeks earlier.
Police say they have been unable to locate Davis despite multiple attempts. “We sent our judicial officer to his home up to six times without success,” Rossell’s attorney Richard Wolfe said. She is seeking roughly $46,000 in damages and alleges efforts to resolve the matter privately failed.
Davis, a former champion with the World Boxing Association, has faced repeated legal trouble over the years, including past domestic violence arrests and a hit-and-run case that resulted in jail time.
The latest development comes as Davis was preparing for a major fight. Davis recently lost his WBA lightweight world title and was designated “champion in recess” after the Miami Gardens Police Department issued an arrest warrant in connection with his latest domestic violence charge.
