Tyrese says psych meds caused the viral video of him crying to his ex-wife on social media back in 2017.

Tyrese was in the middle of a contentious custody battle for his only child, 10-year-old Shayla.

“Don’t take my baby. This is all I got. Don’t take my baby, okay? I’ve been away from my baby for two months. I just want my baby and no one’s listening cause no one’s in the courtroom,” he wept.

In a recent interview, he explained what was happening at the time.

“I was on psych meds, which is called rexulti, never knew that the crying video was on the internet, never knew that I was a meme, never knew that any of that sh-t was going on until three months later when the psych meds were finally out of my system,” he said on The Morning Hustle.

The actor says he did not mind the jokes.

“I would’ve made a joke out of it too. That was the hottest sh-t, which I didn’t know, but that was the hottest sh-t period. I’m thinking to myself, ‘Sh-t, if all of this happened after the lowest point of my life, maybe I need to do a what more do you want from me part two.'”

Watch him explain in the above clip.
