This July 4th weekend has been one of the most violent weekend’s in the city’s history, Media Take Out has learned.
A video is circulating online showing a young man shooting a man – who is in a domestic dispute with a woman. And the internet is claiming that the young man in the video is rapper Lil Durk’s son.
Media Take Out has not been able to confirm the identity if the parties involved, but the internet is going crazy with the unsubstantiated rumors.
Seventeen people have been killed and at least 82 wounded during shootings in Chicago over the extended Fourth of July weekend.
Halfway into the long July 4th weekend, the tally of shootings surpassed the numbers for last year’s entire holiday weekend. Last year, 11 people were killed and 62 wounded over the holiday weekend, which stretched over four days, July 1-4.
This year’s holiday violence includes four mass shootings. In all, 24 people were shot, four fatally, in the mass attacks.
Mayor Brandon Johnson said in a statement the Chicago Police Department would deploy officers whose days off for the holiday weekend were previously canceled, aiming “to maximize presence and ensure prompt incident response.”
