President Donald Trump is reportedly considering another audacious expansion idea involving Venezuela.
According to Fox News reporter John Roberts, the president recently discussed the possibility of making Venezuela the 51st U.S. state during a private phone call.
“Just got off the phone with @realDonaldTrump … he told me he is seriously considering a move to make Venezuela the 51st state…” Roberts posted on Monday on X.

The reported conversation comes as the United States and Venezuela continue rebuilding economic ties following months of political restlessness involving Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. Maduro and first lady Cilia Flores were captured by U.S. military forces earlier this year and later pleaded not guilty to multiple federal charges in New York, including narco-terrorism conspiracy.
Following the arrests, Trump praised the operation while discussing Venezuela’s oil industry.
“We’re going to get the oil flowing the way it should be,” Trump said at the time. “We’re gonna run it properly. We’re gonna make sure the people of Venezuela are taken care of.”
White House spokesperson Olivia Wales also spoke about the countries’ relationship in a statement. “Only President Trump can be credited for the revitalization of this newfound partnership,” Wales said. “The best is yet to come!”
