Trump Says He’s Been ‘Totally Exonerated’ as Epstein Fallout Grows

Lyndon Abioye |

President Donald Trump is again rejecting any suggestion that he bears responsibility for the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein, insisting he has been cleared of wrongdoing.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Thursday, the president addressed questions that followed the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the U.K.

When asked whether other American associates of Epstein could face consequences, Trump, who was mentioned in the Epstein files over 38,000 time responded, “I’m the expert in a way because I’ve been totally exonerated. That’s very nice. I did nothing.”

Trump also described the situation surrounding Andrew as unfortunate. “It’s very sad. I think it’s so bad for the royal family,” he said. “To me, it’s a very sad thing.”

Andrew was taken into custody earlier that day on suspicion of misconduct in public office after allegations surfaced regarding his communications during his time as a trade envoy, according to British authorities.

Trump has repeatedly said he severed ties with Epstein years before the financier’s crimes became public. “I have nothing to hide,” Trump told reporters earlier this week. “They went in hoping they’d find something and found just the opposite.”

The president has acknowledged knowing Epstein socially decades ago but maintains he had no awareness of illegal activity. “I had no idea,” he said previously. “I haven’t spoken to him in many, many years.”

Trump has not officially been exonerated.
