Trial For PnB Rock Murder Begins

Lyndon Abioye |

Rapper PnB Rock’s murder trial officially began this week, and Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, Timothy Richardson, delivered opening statements.

Freddie Trone and his teenage son will both face trial separately. A third man, Tremont Jones, is also standing trial after prosecutors allege that he was the one who informed Trone that PnB Rock would be dining at Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles in South Los Angeles that day.

The biggest evidence against both men is that there is surveillance footage showing them both walking into the popular Los Angeles restaurant, robbing and ultimately killing PnB Rock.

“My client, Freddie Trone, did not pull the trigger. He was not inside the restaurant at the time. This charge of murder is the most serious charge. We have to have evidence to support it,” Trone’s attorney Winston McKesson said in court.

Trone appears to be blaming the killing on his young son.

“You will hear no evidence that he planned this with his son. That he instructed his son to do this, or he egged him on. They will have evidence that my client did help his son cover this up. We’re not disputing that. What we’re saying is the gunman acted alone”.

Trone pleaded not guilty to one count of murder, two counts of robbery, and a count of conspiracy to commit a felony. Jones pleaded not guilty to robbery, conspiracy and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
