Fans missed Naughty By Nature’s presence at the BET Awards, but rapper Treach says the group had a good reason for the no-show.

“We were invited with the other members,” he told TMZ. “But they had some scheduling difficulties. So, we tried to make it happen. But I’m holding it down.”

He continued: “They’re doing their thing, and I’m gonna keep the brand poppin’ over here. So, you know. We’ll see what happens in the future, but right now, it’s Naughty down, this brand down, for the 50th.”

The rapper did add that he’s looking forward to DJ Cassidy’s “Pass The Mic” extravaganza on July 21st. He will be performing solo at the event. The event is a celebration of Hip-Hop turning 50.

According to the official website, “Celebrations will be held all around the world to uplift and honor every aspect of Hip Hop culture. From concerts and tours to battles, competitions, and exhibitions, all of your favorite DJs, MCs, Breakdancers, Beatboxers, Graffiti artists, and more will show up and show out to make this golden anniversary of Hip Hop culture the most extraordinary year yet.”
