Travis Hunter’s fiancée, Leanna Lenee, is clearing up the viral clip from the Heisman Trophy ceremony where she was seen looking upset and seemingly ruining his career-defining moment.
“When his name was called, I instantly was gonna—if you watch the video, you can see me like. But his mom didn’t get up, so I was like, ‘Oh, maybe I don’t get up, maybe I just sit here with her,” she said.
Lenee denies the claims that Colorado Buffaloes football head coach Deion Sanders told her to stand up after Hunter was named this year’s Heisman Trophy recipient.

“He didn’t even have to do that ’cause I was gonna do that anyway,” she continued. “As soon as I seen Travis get up, then I thought it was appropriate to stand up, greet him, congratulate him. But then there was the camera right in front of Coach Prime and I knew they were gonna film that moment and because of how many people are online, I was like, I don’t want to be in that shot, so I’m gonna sit down.”
Lenee says she wanted the moment to be about Hunter and his family. She says she is very supportive of his career.
Lenee and Hunter have been together for five years.
