The legal team for Tory Lanez Toronto is four days away from his August 7 sentencing and his team are asking that the judge sentence him to rehabilitation instead of prison time.
According to Lanez’s attorneys, they want the rapper to be “released from jail to probation and a substance abuse program.”
Last month, the rapper’s new attorney Ronda Renee Dixon sat down on the Legal Affairs and Trials With Meghann Cuniff show, where she spoke about a recent visit to see her client. She says she is concerned about her client.
“His eyes were black. He was totally desponden. He told me he wanted to go to state prison. I said, ‘You want to go to state prison? Why?’ He said, ‘At least I’ll be able to go out in the yard and talk to people.’ That upset me. I don’t think he’s guilty,” Dixon said.
Prosecutors recommended Lanez serve at least 13 years in prison.
