Tory Lanez’s $100 Million Prison St*bbing Case Moves Forward Despite Warden’s Denial

Tory Lanez is heading back to court as his $100 million lawsuit over a brutal prison stabbing moves forward, despite a California prison warden denying responsibility for the attack.

The rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has a December 18 court date in Los Angeles, according to an October 19 order from U.S. District Judge Josephine L. Staton.

The hearing, scheduled for 10:30 a.m., will help determine how the case proceeds, including deadlines for gathering evidence and filing legal motions. Lanez filed the lawsuit in April 2026, nearly a year after he was repeatedly stabbed by another inmate at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi on May 12, 2025.

The singer alleges that correctional officers failed to respond quickly enough and neglected to protect him from an inmate with a history of violence, but Warden Thomas Valdez denies his claims.

In an October 7 court filing, Valdez acknowledged that Lanez suffered multiple stab wounds but denied that prison officials violated his constitutional rights or were legally responsible for his injuries.

Before the December hearing, attorneys must meet and submit a joint report addressing evidence, possible settlement discussions, and proposed deadlines.

The judge could cancel the conference if the written submissions provide enough information to establish a schedule.

Last month, Lanez launched his multi-city Not on “Tor” tour, featuring DJs and several special guests.
