Tory Lanez shouted out Miami rapper Trina for helping him when he was still a rapper on the rise.
The artist announced the release of his Lost Cause, coming this Friday, and says that he was going through a hard time years back after breaking up with his girlfriend (whose car he had been sleeping in) and becoming homeless.
Trina allowed him to stay with her and he played her his ‘Godfather’ which she said was going to get him a deal.
Lanez says Trina “put five bands up and helped me get the video shot,”and connected him with a director who went on to do another video for him for free.
“Two months later, Interscope watched both videos and couldn’t believe it was the same person on both songs. That led to me getting signed and the rest was history,” he wrote.

Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was sentenced in August to 10 years in prison after being convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
