Tory Lanez Files Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Verdict Appeal

Tiffany Brockworth |

Tory Lanez has finally filed his appeal after he was convicted on charges stemming from the July 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

The rapper’s team cited “erroneous admission of evidence” and “prosecutorial misconduct” as grounds for the appeal.

Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole on after he was convicted of felony assault for shooting the Houston rapper in both of her feet after a drunken argument.

Lanez’s legal team says he was “allowed to inappropriately answer questions in a narrative format” during his trial, “including testimony concerning irrelevant and inadmissible matters, such as her feelings regarding the circumstances of the incident.”

Lanez also claims that “prosecutors made multiple improper appeals to emotion and sympathy for the victim” which “had no bearing on [Lanez’s] guilt or innocence.”

He has changed his legal team since the trial and it is reported that he regrets not taking the stand in his own defence. Lanez says he was not the shooter that night.
