Tory Lanez has filed a motion for a new trial, months after he was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020.

Lanez’s attorneys claim the judge “erroneously allowed” jurors to view a September 2020 Instagram post from Lanez claiming Meg’s former bestie, Kelsey Harris, was not the shooter. In the post, Joshua Farias, who was responsible for posting on the rapper’s account, was the one who replied, “that’s not true” to a comment on The Shade Room’s account stating, “People saying Kelsey shot her.”

“The court erred on numerous questions of law in allowing the People to introduce this post, depriving defendant of a fair trial,” the new motion reads. “The only acceptable remedy for this miscarriage of justice is a new trial.”

Lanez is currently waiting to be sentenced but could receive up to 22 years in prison. During the trial, Megan Thee Stallion testified that Lanez told her to “dance, bitch,” and shot her in the feet following a party at Kylie Jenner’s home.
