A judge denied Tory Lanez’s motion to be released on bond while he appeals his conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Lanez’s attorneys claimed the rapper is not a flight risk and that he is not a danger to society so should be released but the judge did not agreen.

Justice Lee Smalley Edmon said that Lanez has his bail increased or adjusted multiple times during his prosecution, suggesting “there were concerns about appellant being a potential flight risk.”

“Appellant currently stands convicted of a violent felony, which is a factor a court shall consider in determining whether the defendant poses a danger to the community,” Judge Edmon wrote. “Based on this record, appellant has not shown that the trial court unjustifiably denied relief or otherwise shown by clear and convincing evidence entitlement to relief.”

Lanez was charged with assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in prison in August.
