Chris Rock’s brother, Tony Rock, says Will Smith lied when he first claimed that he reached out to apologize after the slap heard around the world.
“That wasn’t true, that wasn’t true. I think like, two nights later, he said, ‘I reached out to Chris, and he didn’t want to talk.’ That wasn’t true,” Rock claims.
Rock added that he and Smith were friends so he was disappointed that he didn’t make more of an effort to make amends.
“He doesn’t owe me anything, I just thought we were better than that,” he said, adding, “My phone number has never changed. So, I just thought I’d get a phone call one day like, ‘Ay, let’s just you and I just talk.’ It hasn’t happened, so I guess it’s not going to happen.”
In Chris Rock’s recent comedy special, he referenced the incident several times, and even raised Jada Pinkett Smith’s situation with Alsina August. He has not accepted Smith’s apologies.
