Todd Tucker says the end of his 11-year marriage to Kandi Burruss sent him into such a painful place that, during one difficult moment, he “looked at [his] gun.”
Todd, 53, is now speaking about that period as he prepares to release his docuseries Til Divorce Do Us Part, which chronicles his side of the breakup and what came afterward.
When he and Kandi separated, Todd moved into the guesthouse, keeping him physically close to his family but leaving him alone for much of the day.
“What did I just do? What just happened? Did I lose my family?” Todd recalled asking himself. “I had nobody really to lean on.”
“But then I snapped out of it, like, ‘No, you have a family. You have kids that you have to see them through.”
Todd and Kandi are parents to Ace, 10, and Blaze, 6, while both have adult daughters from earlier relationships. Months later, Todd says heis focusing on healing rather than immediately moving into another relationship.
“I need some time to get myself together” before being “ready to be a good man for somebody” else, he continued.
“I’m about to find me a therapist and just take this journey of rebuilding myself,” Todd said, adding that church is also a priority nowadays.
“I think we [men] carry a lot of stress, we carry a lot inside,” he said. “Just get it out.”
