Todd and Julie Chrisley will be appealing their prison sentences.
“Yesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family. But Todd and Julie are people of faith, and that faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions,” family attorney Alex Little told reporters. “Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid. Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.”
Todd received the longest sentence, receiving 12 years in prison plus 16 months on probation. Julie, his wife, was sentenced to seven years and 16 months of probation.
In June, the reality stars were found guilty of fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy to defraud the United States by a federal jury in Atlanta.
The couple was accused of inflating their net worth in order to obtain more than $30 million in fraudulent loans and of dodging taxes.
They are reportedly “optimistic” they will win their appeal.
