Todd & Julie Chrisley Sue Former Lawyer After Prison Nightmare!

Lyndon Abioye |

Todd and Julie Chrisley are suing the lawyer and law firm they say mishandled the federal fraud case that sent them to prison.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars filed a legal malpractice lawsuit against attorney Chris Anulewicz and Balch & Bingham, alleging that mistakes by their former defense team contributed to their 2022 convictions. The couple, who were pardoned by President Donald Trump in 2025, are now seeking more than $25 million in damages.

The lawsuit alleges the firm sold itself as ready for a major federal criminal case but failed when the stakes were highest. According to the complaint, Balch & Bingham “held itself out as capable of defending Todd and Julie Chrisley in one of the most consequential federal criminal prosecutions in the country. It was not.”

The couple reportedly lost major endorsement deals because of the legal trouble.

Todd and Julie claim the legal team failed to fully challenge evidence tied to what they describe as an unlawful warehouse search by Georgia tax investigators. Some physical documents from the search were kept out of court, but the couple alleges their lawyers did not pursue related material, including emails, bank records, and financial records that later became central to the government’s case.

The lawsuit also takes aim at Anulewicz’s experience, alleging he “had no meaningful defense experience” but was still allowed to lead the case because the Chrisley name brought attention and business.

In another allegation, the couple claims Anulewicz persuaded them to invest $75,000 in his brother-in-law’s food truck startup while he was representing them.
