Toccara Jones is sharing her thoughts on the renewed conversation surrounding America’s Next Top Model following the release of Netflix’s docuseries Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.
Jones, who finished as a finalist during Cycle 3 of the long-running competition, recently spoke with producer Carlos King about the project and Tyra Banks’ appearance in the series. While Banks addresses criticism tied to the show’s history, Jones said she hoped for a more emotional response.
“I don’t think it was very genuine,” Jones said. “I don’t think she showed vulnerability, and I don’t think she showed empathy.”

The documentary revisits moments from the show’s 24th season run and includes accounts from former contestants who say they experienced body shaming and harsh treatment while filming.
Despite her critique, Jones made it clear that her own time on the show remains largely positive.
“I have nothing bad to say about Tyra from my personal experience,” she explained.
Jones added that hearing other contestants describe painful experiences was difficult to watch.
“The documentary absolutely broke my heart,” she said.
During her season, Jones stood out as one of the first plus size contestants to gain major attention on the series.
