Tink and producer Hitmake went through a very public and bitter breakup, but the singer says that she still hopped back in the booth with him after the split…and things were awkward.

“If you know our history, we went through a lot of turmoil. So there’s a bit of him in a lot of these lot of these records,” she told The Breakfast Club.

During their split, Tink claimed Hitmaka physically assaulted him. Hitmake denied the allegations, instead claiming that it was Tink who put her paws on him.

“It took a lot of maturity for me to get in that booth and for us to come to agreement on these songs. We had hard days where he had to walk out and that’s just what it is,” Tink continued. “I had to take the emotion out of it and we were already in a contract, so there were obligations and that’s what I think the world doesn’t know. It took a lot of maturity to say ‘Hey, I’mma go in this booth [and] I’mma do my best today.’”
