Tinashe clammed former label, RCA Records after she bagged a hit with her latest single “Nasty.”

The singer performed the single this week live on the Jimmy Kimmel Live!,

“Oh my God, this is so exciting, it’s like my first Billboard entry by myself,” she said. “We didn’t need them. All you need is hard work, good fans, and talent. I know they gagging.”

“Nasty” is Tinashe’s first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 90. It has gone mega viral on TikTok.

She also blasted the label for forcing her to work with artists such as Chris Brown and R. Kelly, who both have controversial pasts with women.

“You think I wanted to [do those songs]?” she said at the time. “That’s so embarrassing… Yes, that was labely! And I was so young too.”

Last month, she talked with Variety about her recent success.

“I was saying this to my mom the other day, 10 years later, who would have thought? And I didn’t need this moment. I came to the place where I didn’t need that validation anymore,” she said.  “And I think that makes it even better, because it’s like holy sh-t, the universe just worked in such mysterious ways.”
