Tiger Woods is off the road for the next five years after reaching a plea deal in his Florida DUI case.
The 50-year-old golf legend pleaded no contest to reckless driving and refusal to submit to a lawful test in Martin County Circuit Court. Woods also agreed to pay $1,500 in fines and was found guilty of careless driving, a moving violation.
Judge Darren Steele made the consequences clear while addressing Woods in court.
“There are no exceptions,” Steele said of the license suspension. “If you were to drive for any reason at all, you would go immediately back to jail.”
Woods was arrested on March 27 after his SUV clipped a trailer being pulled by a truck and rolled onto its side. According to an affidavit, Woods told authorities he had been looking at his cellphone and changing the radio station before failing to notice traffic slowing ahead.
Authorities said a Breathalyzer showed no alcohol in his system. Woods refused blood and urine testing for other substances, according to the sheriff.
Woods arrived in court with girlfriend Vanessa Trump and attorney Doug Duncan.
Following his arrest, the legendary golfer announced he was stepping away from golf for a “period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”
