LION PRIDE! Major Harris Graduates With Honors From Woodward Academy… Inside The Elite Atlanta Institution!

Media Take Out has the absolute “Cap and Gown” exclusive! A massive congratulations is in order for Major Harris and the entire graduating Class of 2026 at Woodward Academy! We’ve learned that Major didn’t just walk across that stage on Saturday, May 9; he did it with honors, solidifying his spot as one of the brightest young stars coming out of the “A.”

While the champagne is popping for Major, we had to dig into the history of where he spent his formative years. For those who don’t know, Woodward isn’t just a school—it’s a Southern dynasty!

From Military Might to Academic Excellence

Woodward Academy wasn’t always the co-ed, high-fashion campus it is today.

  • The Beginning: Founded in 1900 by Colonel John Charles Woodward, the school originally opened its doors as the Georgia Military Academy (GMA).
  • The Military Era: For over 60 years, it was a strict all-male military boarding school. Its cadets were so legendary they even marched in the inaugural parades of Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy.
  • The Rebrand: In 1966, the school ditched the uniforms and the “military” title, rebranding as Woodward Academy to focus on a broader, college-preparatory mission.

A Campus of Power & Influence

Located in historic College Park, Woodward is officially the largest independent school in the continental United States.

  • The Scale: Spanning over 133 acres across two campuses, the school is like a mini-university.
  • The “Woodruff” Connection: One of the school’s most famous early supporters was Robert W. Woodruff, the legendary president of Coca-Cola. His donations literally kept the school’s doors open during the Great Depression.

Notable Alumni: The Woodward Legacy

Major Harris is joining a list of alumni that reads like a “Who’s Who” of American success. When you graduate from Woodward, you’re in the company of:

  • Amy Carter: Daughter of President Jimmy Carter.
  • Phil Gramm: Former U.S. Senator.
  • Sterling Brown & AJ Cole III: Pro sports legends who learned to compete on Woodward’s fields.
  • Juwan Thompson: Super Bowl champion.

The “Woodward Way”

Graduating with honors at Woodward is no small feat. The school is known for its grueling academic tracks, including over 25 AP courses and a reputation for sending its graduates to the most prestigious Ivy League and Southern Ivy universities in the world.

By finishing at the top of his class, Major Harris has proven he has the “Excellence and Character” that the Academy has been preaching for 126 years.

Is Major Harris headed to an Ivy League next, or is he planning to stay close to home at Morehouse or UGA? Let us know in the comments!
