Sunny Hostin’s questions about the mysterious death of Nolan Wells have now sparked a legal showdown.
The View star has received a 27-page pre-suit defamation demand from attorneys representing three of Wells’ friends, Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo, and Morgan Seymour, according to RadarOnline.
The three traveled with Wells to Horn Island on July 4. He did not make t back alive.

Their attorneys, Edward Andrew Paltzik and J. Tyler C., claim Hostin crossed a line while discussing the case on The View and Behind the Table in July.
Hostin said she saw “a lot of discrepancies” and “inconsistencies” surrounding Wells’ cellphone, phone records, and social media accounts. She also questioned whether police had interviewed the young men separately and described circumstances involving Wells’ phone as “very strange.” In another discussion, Hostin said there were “racial undertones” surrounding the case.
The attorneys argue those remarks could lead audiences to believe their clients were involved in serious criminal conduct.
Their demand claims Hostin’s comments could be interpreted as suggesting murder, conspiracy, evidence tampering, or hindering prosecution, accusations they say are “completely false.”
The filing also challenges Hostin’s discussion of the case and references to civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who represents Wells’ family.
