Last night was the Hollywood premiere of the new Disney movie The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey and a mainly Black cast. The stars were out for the premiere, most of whom looked amazing.
Halle Bailey is really making a splash as the star of the relaunch of The Little Mermaid and she opened up about finally having audiences see her as Ariel on the big screen.
“This moment means everything to me, I’m so grateful to be here,” she said to reporters. “I just feel really honored and I’m happy the day has finally come where we can all watch it.”
The live-action film was released, and so far reactions to Halle’s performance as Ariel are uniformly good. For Halle, the cultural impact the film will have on the young people of color is important and something that she experienced growing up.
