The FBI raided Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida yesterday…which means Trump could possibly be facing criminal charges.
Trump confirmed the news in a statement, saying “they even broke into my safe.” He was not in Florida at the time. He was at Trump Tower in New York.
“My beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement.
The Feds were reportedly searching for classified documents Trump had brought with him to Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence, when he left the White House.
The Secret Service was reportedly notified in advance of the raid and “facilitated access to the Florida Trump property as fellow federal agents but did not take part in investigation or search.”
“Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before,” Trump said. “After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”
