Teyana Taylor Is Dropping a Visual Album That Looks Like a Whole Movie — and We’re Already Obsessed
Just when we thought 2025 couldn’t get any hotter, Teyana Taylor said “hold my camera.”
The multi-hyphenate queen — singer, director, dancer, actor, and let’s be honest, full-blown fashion icon — is back, and this time she’s delivering visuals that look like they belong on the big screen. Teyana just released the first sneak peeks for her upcoming visual album Escape Room, and it’s already giving award season contender.
We’re talking rich cinematography, drama, passion, and plot. Real plot. Not just vibes and choreography (although yes, we’re expecting both in full force). Think of it as part music video, part full-length feature, with Teyana not just performing the soundtrack — she is the story.
And let’s talk about the storyline, because girl… it’s spicy.
In Escape Room, Teyana plays a woman who marries the wrong man (classic mistake, honestly), and finds herself trapped — emotionally, physically, spiritually — in a marriage that clearly isn’t what she thought it would be. The visual album follows her character as she tries to break free, and here’s where it gets good:
Enter Aaron Pierre.
Yes, that Aaron Pierre. British, brooding, and looking like a fine glass of Bordeaux in literally every scene. He plays the mysterious lover who’s determined to rescue her, body and soul. From what we’ve seen so far, their chemistry is electric — like, “rewind that scene” levels of hot.
The whole project is directed by Teyana herself (of course it is), and the aesthetics are chef’s kiss. Think moody lighting, surreal symbolism, vintage wedding gowns, smoke-filled mirrors, and enough slow-motion moments to make you question if you’re watching a thriller or a dream sequence. It’s giving Beyoncé’s Lemonade meets Gone Girl meets Insecure Season 5 cinematography.
And yes — we do have to wait until August for the full release, but from what we’ve seen? It’s worth the countdown. Teyana’s always been ahead of the curve when it comes to storytelling through music and visuals, but this might just be her most ambitious project yet.
Also, side note: Can we talk about how Teyana always manages to serve face, fashion, and full-on plot development at the same time? The woman directed her own story, cast a man we now all want in our imaginary love triangles, and gave us a metaphor for toxic relationships that hits way too close to home.
So set your reminders, cancel your plans, and prep your group chat — because when Escape Room drops, you’re going to want to talk about every detail, every outfit, and every steamy Aaron-and-Teyana scene ASAP.
August can’t come soon enough.
