Terence Crawford Return Rumors Put to Rest: ‘He Just Wants to Stay in Shape’

Terence Crawford may be back in the gym, but his longtime trainer says fans should not start planning a comeback party.

Brian “BoMac” McIntyre shut down speculation that Crawford, 38, is preparing to fight again after recent training footage sparked excitement online.

“Bud is done; he has said he is done, and I respect his decision,” McIntyre said during an appearance on the Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer.

Crawford retired in December after defeating Canelo Alvarez to become an undisputed super middleweight champion and a five-division titleholder. His return to training made fans curious as they believed he was returning to the sport, but McIntyre said Crawford was simply spending time in camp with fellow boxer Lester Martinez, who is preparing to face Luka Plantic on August 29.

“He knew we were in camp, so he just wanted to come out and get some work in to see where he is at and to have some fun with Lester,” McIntyre explained.

According to the trainer, Crawford has also been helping Martinez with his preparation.

“Terence has always been a big supporter of Lester,” he said, adding that he wants Crawford to remain retired because “he had nothing left to prove in the sport.”

“Not to get ready for a fight,” he continued. “He just wants to stay in shape.”
