Nearly two decades after signing with Konvict Entertainment, T-Pain is alleging that he is still fighting to get paid.
The Atlanta rapper has sued the record label Akon co-founded, alleging it owes him $489,047 in unpaid royalties from recent music sales.
T-Pain, born Faheem Rashad Najm, filed the case Friday in Fulton County Superior Court. His lawsuit claims Konvict received a $1.3 million royalty payment from a distributor at the end of March but did not turn over the portion he says belongs to him.
The filing marks T-Pain’s second royalty lawsuit against the company connected to his early rise in the music industry.
He previously sued Konvict in 2018, alleging the label failed to properly pay royalties related to his fifth album, “Oblivion.” The legal battle ended in a settlement agreement in 2025.
T-Pain now claims the latest payment dispute violates both that settlement and the recording agreement he entered into with Konvict in 2005.
The singer and rapper became one of the most recognizable voices of the 2000s with hits including “Buy U a Drank” and “Bartender,” and became closely associated with Akon’s Konvict brand.
Konvict Entertainment is the sole defendant in the latest case.
