T.I. & Tiny Lose $100 MILLION Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

T.I. and his wife, Tiny Harris, have lost their copyright infringement lawsuit against the L.O.L. Surprise! doll maker M.G.A. Entertainment.

The music couple sued M.G.A. Entertainment for allegedly stealing the name, likeness, and trade dress of O.M.G. Girlz, which launched its “L.O.L. Surprise O.M.G.” dolls in 2019. They claimed the doll lines ripped off Tony’s group, O.M.G. Girlz, which she founded in 2009.

T.I. and Tiny said the line of dolls were examples of both “cultural appropriation and outright theft of the intellectual property,” and that the company attempted to steal the look of a group of “young multicultural women.”

The jury did not agree.

MGA CEO Isaac Larian accused the Atlanta pair of trying to extort him.

“I’m not happy because I wasted a lot of time, energy — my employees’ time, energy — to deal with an extortion,” Larian said. “They knew from the beginning they don’t have a case, and they brought it anyways. And they picked on the wrong guy.”
