Last month, Nelly hit the headlines after he was sued by members of his former group members, the St. Lunatics, over claims that they are owed songwriting credits and royalties from his 2000 global smash album, Country Grammar.
The lawsuit was reportedly filed on behalf of Ali Jones, City Spud, Kyjuan, and Murphy Lee. It alleged that they were not correctly credited on the album and did not receive adequate payment for several tracks they helped co-write, including “Country Grammar,” “Steal the Show,” “Thicky Thick Girl,” and “Wrap Sumden.”
According to new reports, Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, says the City Spud, Kyjuan, and Murphy Lee are now demanding removal from the suit. They say they did not give authorization to be included.
“They are hereby demanding you remove their names forthwith,” N. Scott Rosenblum wrote in a letter obtained by Billboard. “Failure to do so will cause them to explore any and all legal remedies available to them.”
Ali Jones will reportedly continue his $50 million lawsuit against the rapper alone.
