Spencer Pratt’s run for Los Angeles mayor is over, and the former reality star may now have to answer his own campaign-trail ultimatum about leaving the city behind.
The Hills alum failed to advance in the city’s nonpartisan primary after finishing third behind incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilwoman Nithya Raman. Bass and Raman are now set to face each other in the general election, ending Pratt’s unlikely bid.
Before the race ended, Pratt made clear that losing would not just be political for him. In an interview with comedian Adam Carolla, the 42-year-old said he would not rebuild his life in Los Angeles under the leadership of either Bass or Raman.
“If Karen Bass gets reelected, or Nithya [Raman] gets elected, I will be done with trying to live in L.A.,” Pratt said while standing where his Pacific Palisades home once stood.
Pratt, who lost his home in the January 2025 Palisades fire, had built much of his campaign around frustration over the city’s response and his belief that Los Angeles needed a dramatic reset. He also said any money from his lawsuit against the city and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power would go toward a new start elsewhere if he did not win.
“I’ll take that money from the [Gov. Gavin] Newsom state park and the LADWP, and I’ll go find somewhere that my kids will not have to see naked zombies and I can have the last American dream somewhere,” he said.
