Hip-Hop celebrated turning 50 this month, and Soulja Boy claims he changed the face of the culture when he blew up.

“When I came in the game they said I killed hip hop. But really, I birthed the new wave of hip hop with internet/streaming. Ahead of my time. #HipHop50” he tweeted.

Soulja Boy continued: “Now everyone vlogs their career like me. Now everyone uploads their music to the internet. Now everyone goes live for their fans. I started it. Thank me or not. Flowers/Credit or not. #HipHop50.”

Fans debated in the comments.

“Nobody wouldn’t be on YouTube with a music career if it wasn’t for you gang @souljaboy,” one follower responded.

Is he right?

On Sunday Soulja Boy posted a video of him falling off his skateboard during his Soulja World Tour at Summit. The rapper tried to land, but after almost falling, still managed to land on his feet and continue with his Denver performance without injury.
