Shyne was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the 1999 nightclub shooting that involved Sean “Diddy” Combs and it has been rumored that the former Bad Boy artist was paid millions of dollars to sit in prison.

The rapper-turned-politician appeared on The Stephen A. Smith Show where he denied the rumors.

“I pivoted my life to healing, to forgiveness and to taking accountability for what I can control,” he said of life after Bad Boy Records.

He continued: “And I can’t control what someone did to me decades ago. I can’t control them not wanting to pay reparations, not wanting to make right. People say, ‘Oh Diddy gave [you] millions to go to jail.’ Nothing! Probably made two what I thought were offensive contributions over the last 20-something years which led to a breakdown in the relations. But I moved on.”

Shyne has claimed he was not the shooter that night, which the victim of the attack confirmed. Diddy has denied all allegations against him.

“The Honorable Shyne” documentary is now streaming on Hulu.
