Shia LaBeouf is back at the center of controversy after a Mardi Gras night out in New Orleans ended with his arrest and two misdemeanor charges.
The actor was taken into custody shortly after midnight Tuesday following an altercation at a neighborhood bar, where police say tensions escalated after staff attempted to remove him from the premises. According to authorities, LaBeouf became increasingly aggressive and was involved in separate physical disputes with two men who later told officers they were assaulted.
After being escorted outside, LaBeouf allegedly struck one individual multiple times. Police say he later returned to the bar and resumed the confrontation as a small crowd gathered. A second man was reportedly hit in the face before bystanders intervened and held LaBeouf until officers arrived.

He was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries and later booked on two counts of simple battery. Hours later, LaBeouf appeared in a virtual court hearing and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on March 19.
The incident comes as LaBeouf has spoken openly in recent years about sobriety and personal growth. In a past interview, he reflected on his struggles, saying, “I was completely narcissistic and fearful. Now I’m trying to figure out what the healthy version of that looks like.”
