Shaquille O’Neal’s mother, Lucille O’Neal, visited Sway In the Morning, where she opened up about his former marriage to Basketball Wives star Shaunie Henderson (formerly Shaunie O’Neal.)
She says she knew the marriage was not a rightful match but wanted to support her son.
Shaunie was married to the former NBA player from 2002 to 2009. They share four children together.
“I don’t care who he marry or who he get with, I know my place and I’m secure in it,” she said. “But it’s hard to see them go into a relationship and somehow you may feel maybe that might not be the right relationship. But we have to step back and we have to let it happen.”
Shaunie is currently married to Pastor Keion Henderson, founder of the Lighthouse Church. After dating for a while, the two were wed in May 2022 in Anguilla.
