Shannon Sharpe Hit With NEW Defamation Suit As Former Flame Michele Evans Claims His Defense “Ruined Her Life”!

Media Take Out has the legal breakdown on the storm that just won’t quit for Shannon Sharpe. The NFL Hall of Famer and podcast giant might have settled his massive $50 million case last year, but he’s right back in the line of fire. On April 24, 2026, Michele Evans officially filed a brand-new defamation complaint, and honey, the allegations are as wild as they are devastating.

Evans, a former ESPN reporter who has been battling Sharpe in court since 2010, says a specific statement released by Sharpe’s legal team didn’t just defend him—it destroyed her.

The “Killer” Allegation: Did Sharpe’s Team Go Too Far?

The new lawsuit centers on a statement Sharpe’s side made publicly to discredit Evans’s previous claims of sexual assault and abuse. In that defense, Sharpe’s camp allegedly declared that Evans was:

“…still on probation after serving 3 years in prison for trying to kill her husband so that she could hopefully pursue a relationship with Shannon.”

Michele Evans is calling foul, stating under oath that the entire story is a fabrication. She insists she never attempted to harm her husband and that Sharpe knew the statement was false—or was “recklessly” indifferent to the truth—when it was blasted out to the media.

Mental Health In Shambles: The Fallout

The damage Evans describes in her new filing is gut-wrenching. She claims the smear campaign has left her with:

  • Severe PTSD and Agoraphobia: A fear of leaving her home due to public perception.
  • Panic Attacks and Depression: Requiring ongoing weekly psychological therapy.
  • Reputational Ruin: Claims that the internet “twisted” the story even further, with trolls alleging she actually succeeded in killing her husband.

Shannon Sharpe’s 2025 and 2026 have been defined more by depositions than touchdowns. Here is how we got here:

  • The Evans History: Michele originally sued in 2023 for $4 million and later added a claim under the NYC Gender-Motivated Violence Act regarding an alleged 2010 assault.
  • The $50M Settlement: In July 2025, Sharpe reached a confidential settlement with Gabriella Zuniga (Jane Doe), who had sued him for $50 million over sexual battery and non-consensual recording.
  • The ESPN Exit: Just days after the Zuniga settlement was finalized in late July 2025, ESPN officially cut tieswith Sharpe, ending his legendary run on First Take.

Evans is suing for Defamation Per Se, meaning the allegations (accusing her of a heinous crime like attempted murder) are considered so damaging that she doesn’t even have to prove specific financial loss—the harm is presumed. With punitive damages on the table, this could be a multi-million dollar headache for Uncle Shay Shay.

Despite the mounting legal bills and his exit from mainstream TV, Sharpe continues to dominate the digital space with Club Shay Shay and Nightcap. But with Evans refusing to back down, it looks like his “Club” might be relocating to the courthouse for the foreseeable future.

Is Shannon Sharpe’s team playing “too dirty” in their defense, or is Michele Evans just looking for a payday? Let us know in the comments!
