Female rapper Sexyy Red is the most popular hip hop star on social media. But that’s not the case in real life.

Media Take Out is learning that Sexyy Red, and other “social media” famous female artists – like Ice Spice and Meg Thee Stallion, are all having a ton of trouble getting their fans to pay to see them in concert.

The female artists are fun to look at for free on your phone, for a few seconds. But fans aren’t willing to spend actual money to see them for an hours-long performance.

According to a new report, Sexyy Red has sold less than 40% of the tickets for her new tour. And the report is claiming that her tour is now on the verge of being cancelled.

But not everyone is having tough time selling tickets. Some Black female artists, like SZA or Doja Cat are making tens of millions of dollars touring the globe, and selling out.

Sexyy Red is an American rapper. She rose to prominence with the release of her 2023 single “Pound Town” (with Tay Keith); its popularity spawned the remixed sequel “Pound Town 2” (with Nicki Minaj), which became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Her follow-up single, “SkeeYee” was met with similar success as both were included on her second mixtape, Hood Hottest Princess (2023). Her 2024 single, “Get It Sexyy” peaked within the top 20 of the chart.

In 2023, Wherry featured on the official remixes of the singles “Shake Sumn” by DaBaby, “Slut Me Out” by NLE Choppa, and “Peaches & Eggplants” by Young Nudy, alongside rapper Latto, all of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. She also guest featured alongside SZA on Drake’s single “Rich Baby Daddy” that same year, which peaked at number 11 on the chart and was accompanied by a viral music video in which Wherry delivers her second child.
